FactSumo vs. your LMS

Your LMS proves they watched it.
FactSumo proves they know it.

We don't replace your LMS. We replace what your LMS pretends to do β€” and we'll explain exactly where the line is.

The honest version

Your LMS is a content delivery and compliance-attendance system. It's good at that.

What your LMS isn't good at β€” and was never designed for β€” is proving the person on the other end of the screen can actually do the job a month later. That's a different problem, with a different shape, that needs different software.

FactSumo is that software. We sit alongside your LMS, not on top of it. Your LMS still owns content delivery, attendance records, and the audit checkbox that says "completed training." FactSumo owns the part where you find out whether the training stuck.

Most of our customers keep both, and the question isn't "which one wins" β€” it's "which one answers the question your CFO, regulator, or store manager is asking this week."

Generalizations across major LMS platforms. Specific systems vary; jump to the named comparisons below for vendor-specific notes.

Specific systems

How we sit next to the LMS you already have.

Trademarks belong to their owners. We're describing how customers typically use both systems together.

Cornerstone

LMS

Where they're strong

Enterprise-grade content delivery, deep HRIS integrations, broad compliance content library.

Where FactSumo is different

Cornerstone tracks completion and credentialing across thousands of users. FactSumo measures whether those completed courses actually translated to retained, applied knowledge β€” and surfaces the gaps before the audit or launch.

Common fit

Banks, healthcare systems, and Fortune 500s use Cornerstone for the system of record and FactSumo for readiness on high-risk procedures.

Docebo

LMS

Where they're strong

AI-driven content recommendations, learner experience platform features, strong customer-education use cases.

Where FactSumo is different

Docebo recommends what to learn next. FactSumo proves what was learned β€” with retention curves and reviewer sign-off, not engagement scores.

Common fit

Enablement and customer-ed teams keep Docebo for the content catalog and use FactSumo to measure post-training competence.

TalentLMS

LMS

Where they're strong

Fast to deploy, friendly pricing, simple course building for SMBs and mid-market.

Where FactSumo is different

TalentLMS gets training out the door quickly. FactSumo focuses entirely on what happens after β€” retention, practice, validated readiness.

Common fit

Mid-market teams use TalentLMS as the training hub and FactSumo for sales, compliance, or product-launch retention.

SAP Litmos

LMS

Where they're strong

Strong sales-enablement workflows, broad video library, channel partner training at scale.

Where FactSumo is different

Litmos pushes content to sales teams. FactSumo keeps it in their heads 30, 60, 90 days later β€” and shows managers exactly which reps are ready for which products.

Common fit

Sales orgs run Litmos for onboarding modules and FactSumo for ongoing readiness on launches and cross-sell motions.

Don't see your system here? Tell us what you run β€” we work alongside SuccessFactors, Workday Learning, Absorb, 360Learning, and most others.

When NOT to use FactSumo

We won't sell you the wrong tool.

If you only need to log compliance attendance for an annual audit and don't actually care whether anyone retained anything, your existing LMS is fine. FactSumo is overkill, and we'll tell you that on the discovery call.

If your training is one-time onboarding and the material doesn't need to stay sharp 90 days out β€” say, a benefits enrollment overview β€” a video module in your LMS is the right tool. We're built for things that have to stick.

If you don't have anyone to review and approve generated content, you're not ready for FactSumo yet. We need a 30-minute SME pass per deck before learners see it. Skip that and you'll get fluent reps practicing the wrong thing.

If your team is under 5 learners, the math probably doesn't work. We have a 5-learner minimum at signup and our individual product is a different (and much cheaper) tier.

The bar we hold ourselves to: if a 30-minute call surfaces that we're not the right fit, we'll say so and point you at what is. That's the version of this conversation we'd want as buyers.
